A systematic approach to environmental responsibility
We have placed environmental responsibility and sustainability at the heart of our business strategy. We seek a balance between maximising guest wellbeing and implementing environmentally friendly solutions, and believe that responsible action and a pleasant hotel experience go hand in hand.
Green Key eco-label
Tartu Hotell has received the internationally recognised Green Key eco-label, a leading standard for assessing environmentally responsible and sustainable tourism businesses since 1994. The label confirms our commitment to reducing environmental impact and assures guests that we care for our surroundings and act responsibly.
Water, electricity and heat
We continuously monitor our use of water, electricity and heat, looking for ways to reduce excess consumption. Technical solutions support energy efficiency, including switching off room cooling automatically when a window is open and keeping temperature within an optimal range. We also ask guests and staff to adjust the indoor climate responsibly.
Waste and reuse
We are committed to reducing and sorting waste both in our daily operations and in the hotel’s public areas, where guests can separate different types of waste. Where possible, we also redirect items left in rooms and not wanted back by guests for reuse, working together towards a greener lifestyle.
Sustainability
We favour environmentally friendly products and solutions and work with organisations that value environmental responsibility. We regularly assess the environmental impact of our activities and consider it when planning future actions and selecting new equipment.
Awareness
We comply with environmental, health, safety and labour legislation, raise environmental awareness by training staff and informing guests, and encourage our partners to favour environmentally friendly solutions.
Consumption
Our rooms do not contain disposable slippers or bathrobes; guests can request them from reception if needed. We have replaced small bottles of shampoo and soap with large refillable dispensers and avoid plastic packaging, replacing unsustainable options with environmentally friendly alternatives.
